இன்று ஸி.வி நூற்றாண்டு நினைவு நாள் - மல்லியப்புசந்தி திலகர்

மக்கள் கவிமணி ஸி.வி.வேலுப்பிள்ளை அவர்களின் 100வது பிறந்த நாள். 1952களில் அவர் எழுதிய

‘In Ceylon’s Tea Garden எனும்  ஆங்கில நெடுங்கவிதைத் தொகுப்பின் சில ஆங்கில வரிகளையும் அதன் தமிழாக்கமாக கவிஞர் சக்தீ பால அய்யா தந்த ‘இலங்கைத் தேயிலைத் தோட்டத்திலே’ எனும் நெடுங்கவிதையில் இருந்தும் ஒரு சில பகுதிகளைப் பகிரந்துகொள்கிறேன்.

And so the tom-tom’s throb

That for a hundred years

In fettered darkness held

My bronze bodied men

Shall sound yet again

From the mountain heights 

to the valleys below

with a clearer call 

with a surer call

From their Vote less gloom

From their stateless doom

Of rights withered dross

Shall wake another dawn

In that matting hour 

Where once life decayed 

Shall spring a fire –throb,

In the breathing of men

The tears and the sweat

That for a hundred years

Scattered on the dust 

Gathered unto the might 

Of a risen sun

Shall be get a million men

To march forwards and on

To where great mornings wait

For the tom-tom throb

நூற்றாண்டு காலமாய்

நுழைந்த இவ்விருட்டை

வேரோடழிக்க

என் தமிழ் மக்கள்

கூறுவர் சிகர

     உச்சியில் ஏறிக்

கூறுவர் திடல்கள்

யாங்ஙனு மடுக்கவே

விடுதலைக் குரலது

     வெற்றிக்குரலது

     வீரக்குரலது

விரைந்தெழும் கேட்பீர் ..!

அடிமை நிலையை

அகற்றவும் அழைக்கும்

அன்புக் குரலது

அன்பரீர் கேட்பீர் !

வாக்குரிமையோடு

வளநாட்டுரிமையும்

ஊக்கமும் வெற்றி

ஓம்பிடும் காலம்

பு+க்குமே யந்தப்

           புண்ணிய நாள்தனில்

           ஆக்கம் புரிந்தவர்

           அமைதி இழந்தவர்

மூச்சிலே சுதந்திரத்

           திருகலந்திடுமே

           மூச்சிலே விடுதலைச்

சுகம் மலர்ந்திடுமே

பேச்சிலே வீரமும்

           உறுதியும் மாட்சியும்

பிறந்திடும்  வெற்றிப்

பெரு வாழ்வாமே..!
